I have been cleaning all day. My house has several partially completed tasks all over it. I feel like a good day off kid free would end the madness, however, I dont know that I would have much motivation to do it all in one day. Today I went through the kids rooms, and sorted through the oodles of laundry that needed to be put away.
tonights plan-finish painting the kitchen and get the curtain rods on the wall so that it will prompt me to finish hemming our curtains... EEK!!
Wish me luck...
A glimpse into the life of a girl surrounded by boys. There is never a dull moment, let alone a free one.

Traveling
Im going to provide a weekend re-cap since I didnt get on here at all during the weekend, and I have been utterly exhausted since then.
Today-10/19/10 is my Nana's 89th birthday!! Happy Bday Nana!!
In honor of her birthday my entire family-approx 30 of us-gathered together in Vermont to celebrate. There was a cocktail hour, dinner and then cake and fun following. The festivities were Saturday night.
My family of course had to travel to this occasion, so I left work early on Friday to pack up the car, get the kids and trek to Vermont.
This by far was one of the longest trips I've made there. The kids were WILD. It was pouring rain and windy the entire ride, and while we were driving we were getting calls from family that there was already 10 inches of SNOW-yes I said SNOW-in our destination. So that was something to look forward to as we got closer. Driving in snow doesnt bother me in the least-its the cold temp, darkness on unfamiliar roads and the crazy wind along with the snow that was slightly nerveracking. Along with the fact that I couldnt even think straight to sing along to the radio because the kids were to ridiculously wild in the back seat.
And it gets better.... As we are about 1 hour from our destination, I have flashing blue lights behind me. Fairly confident that I havent done anything wrong, I pull over to let him pass... no such luck. He stops. He comes to the passenger side window and asks K and I-do you know why I pulled you over? I say-I have no clue. **Let me just say-I will be the first to admit I drive fast, but I am a safe driver, and I was not driving fast in this weather, and I was also purposely driving behind another car so that I could see the road better. So if one was driving fast-it would have been the car I was following-not me.** He proceeded to tell me that I was driving 41 in a 25.. and walked away with my goods to check it all out.
We sat in the car waiting for at least 20 min! He finally came back and the first thing he said was-is this car by chance stolen!? Our reply-SERIOUSLY?! Oh ya, he was dead serious. Apparently I am not in his database.. whatever-I drove away with a $145 ticket-love it. There goes the Uggs I wanted.
After we finally arrived we got some much needed sleep and prepared for the next day.
Saturday was a blast, it was great to spend time w my Nana and all my other family. Nana was so honored to have us all there and celebrating with her.
Thankfully the drive home was quick and uneventful. :)

Math Night...
Tonight I got to head to B-man's school with him for "Math Night". I have to admit.. I wasn't anticipating a "fun" night. Bman was super excited all week for it though, so I kept up the enthusiasm-mostly in the back of my head imagining the disaster that would unfold that night.
We honestly had a BLAST! It was SO organized, and the kids really did have a good time. I wasnt quite sure what "math" a kindergartener is working on-but they are into quite a bit of counting and actual addition-without knowing they are doing it.
Anyway, it was a really good night and I'm glad B-man and i had the time to hang out together and do something he really enjoys.
Also of note... today is red folder day at school-and along with the folder came the infamous school pics I have been dying to see. I will post the pic once I figure out how to do that.. this picture is one to remember for sure! Its cute-but TERRIBLE. He looks like the camera person was holding a 2x4 and lining up to whack him in the head. Honeslty.. its bad... but really-its my little man, so its cute too-and its very typical of him.
Apparently all of the faculty at his school feel the same way-they loved it. Math night was full of comments and smiles. :)

Mondays...
Why are they such a bad day? I dont recall a Monday that was a great day....for me personally anyway.
I especially dislike that today was a "holiday" Monday. No school for the kiddos, but work for the parents-always a scramble...you'd think they would figure something out for that. Well, I guess they did-daycare. Ha. Im in the wrong business I suppose.
Hopefully Tuesday is a better day...

Fair
Yesterday we spent the ENTIRE day at the fair. It was exhausting, and I will never ever again go there on a weekend day. We typically go during the week, but due to B-man having such a hard transition to Kindergarten, we opted to go on Saturday. I will not hesitate again to take the weekday off an head to the fair. I really enjoy the craft expos, and we didnt even go in them yesterday. There were lines for the bathroom-everything, it was ridiculous.
The kids had tons of fun despite the crowd, and we cant wait till next year!

Clumsy....??
So for the past few days B-man has been talking to me about Clumsy day.. 2 nights ago he mentioned it and I responded by asking if they were having wacky week at school or something-figuring one day would be its own crazy theme or something-and B-man had a very puzzled look, but he went on to his next topic in an effort to not go to bed.
Last night we had a chance to chat about it for a bit..
B-man says- Mom, do you know we have no school on Clumsy day?
Me-Really??? Whats the point of having a "Clumsy Day" with no school?
B-man (looking at me strangely)-Mom, you dont know about Clumsy day?
Me-Umm.. do you just act silly all day?
B-man-No, Mom.. didnt you learn about Christopher Clumsy when you were in school??
Me---well, Im sure you can guess, I was DYING LAUGHING.. .and I couldnt even talk.
B-man (now very proud w a big smile)-Mom, were you just joking with me?
OMG! He is too cute! We did eventually get a chance to talk about "Clumsy Day" in detail and I tried to help him out a bit with the pronounciation.

Camping..
Oh yes.. the boys and I went camping last night! It was a bit chilly, mostly during the late night and early morning.. sleeping wasnt bad, the camper had a heater.. but it was a cold one. The campground does "Halloween" weekend, the kids get to dress up, a lot of the sites decorate and pass out candy, and the kids can go on hayrides. The kids had a blast running from site to site with their cousins and friends. AJ did get a bit tired, he was asking to be carried and go to sleep about an hour into it. They slept great, but daylight broke and they were ready to get up-EEK!
We def had a fun weekend though, my little skunk and fireman.. :) Love you boys..

Leg pit??
I was putting Bman to bed and he is asking his 1000 questions as he usually does in an effort to keep his eyes open, and he is itching under his arm.... he says-
Mom, this is an armpit right?
I say-yes
he says-so then this (pointing to under his knee) is a leg pit??
HILARIOUS.. I guess I've never thought of that one..

Sleep...
Sleep is something I particularly enjoy doing. I will say it was by far one of the hardest adjustments I had to make when having babies. It took time to get used to running on empty, dont get me wrong-this was something I did often, but it was completley by choice prior to having my first child. We were lucky to have him sleeping all night long by 4 weeks, I think I went back to sleeping all night long by maybe 6 weeks. I unfortunately woke several times to be sure he was still breathing.
there was some time after that initial 6 weeks that I strongly considered NOT doing it again just because I wasnt sure I could handle the sleep deprivation. Clearly-our motto changed and along came AJ. He was a bit longer to sleep all night, but even still-it was about 8 weeks and he was doing great.
We enjoyed approximately 7 months of full nights rest, with the occasional need to get up and locate a stray pacifier-which one can do with hardly opening their eyes.
When AJ turned 9 months old-we totally regressed. He was waking up ALL THE TIME. And now.. to this day-he is 3 1/2 and he still wakes up SCREAMING every night.
I honestly think that if we could sleep the whole night through we wouldnt know what to do with ourselves. Its amazing how you adjust, because I dont often wonder when will this end.. its become normal life.
On occasion-like this morning.. I do sometimes find myself wondering if it will ever end, and if/when it does-am I going to miss it? Am I going to be able to sleep for a full 8 hours-maybe more?! We shall see...

EEK!
AJ has turned into a MONSTER over night.. one day he is this cute sweet little boy, and the next he screams about everything, hits and does anything he can to make his brother mad.
This passed weekend they picked out Halloween costumes and AJ wants to be a devil.. Im wondering if he knows something I dont.. or if maybe he is practicing for the role.
Lets all hope and pray he will "cool it" following the trick or treating at least.
Ill give him until then... maybe :)

Only 2 wheels!
So about 2 weeks ago B-man asked me to take his training wheels from his bike. I did this, and he acted as though his bike was a foreign object by not touching it for a few days. Well I did sneak a few glimpses of him "practicing", but acted as though I didnt notice. Yesterday I was getting the mail and he comes whizzing past me on his bike! I was shocked. My first though was-why are you in the road, and then I realized he was riding his bike all alone with no training wheels!! Such a big day!!

Im back...
Ok, so I have taken a long hiatis. I am back though and ready to do this, or at least make a very hard attempt at it. I have all of these memories and I really want to be able to refer back to them and have some sort of timeline of events to reflect on-this is the perfect outlet for them. So here I am.. and I am about to catch up.
AJ is way out of his crib and the froggie is long gone. He is my little devil-oh so cute yet so mischevious. We are definately in for it with him. B-man has started school-the big step-Kindergarten.
Kindergarten wasnt nearly as tough as I had thought. The Kindergarten screening was more of a battle, in fact-just 2 weeks AFTER school started-we are just finally getting it done. B-man isnt a fan of following direction-or commands shall I say.
I did follow the bus on the first day of school to make sure that he actually GOT OFF of the bus and walked into the school. It was successful.
More recently-school picture day was last week. B-man is NOT a fan of pictures typically, so I didnt have high hopes, although I was hoping to be surprised with a small smile like he did for his pre-school pictures. 8:50--email from the teacher-B-man is refusing. EEK! Final email from Mrs. M-no luck, she tried again and he wasnt having it. He event thought it was "cool" so he was laughing about it with his friends. Not impressed.
Needless to say-we have no wii in this house for 1 week and a box of his fave toys stashed away. I cant wait to see how the shot they did manage to take came out. Lord knows I will have PLENTY of pictures to remind me how they came out.
Well.. enough for now..
